maru is free for members and paid for by local businesses who advertise to them. The portal at marucommunity.com/business handles everything from verification to invoices.
Before you start#
- A maru account, signed in on a computer. Campaigns can be watched from the phone, but card payment needs a desktop browser.
- Your registered business name, NZBN and, if registered, GST number.
Set up your company#

Create the company
Tap your avatar and choose Create New Organization. Give it a name. We review new companies before they can advertise, usually within one business day, and email you when it is approved. - 2
Add business details
In the portal, open Advertising and follow the banner to Get started: registered name, country, NZBN, GST number, and a billing contact and address. These appear on your tax invoices. - 3
Submit for verification
Your business details are with us for verification. We’ll email you when you’re approved — usually within one business day. Once verified, the dashboard says you can buy ad space.
Book a campaign#

Choose a placement from the rate card. Prices are shown before you commit. - 2
Upload the creative
A headline, a short description, the link to send people to, and a wide 16:9 image (1600 × 900 works well). Text in the image should be large: on a phone the banner is the width of the screen. - 3
Pick the dates and pay
Set the start and end, review the total, and pay by card. Your creative is reviewed before it goes live, and the campaign starts on the date you chose.
Campaign states, in order: Draft, Awaiting payment, In review, Scheduled, Active, Finished. A paused or rejected campaign says why on its page, and rejections are always emailed.
Results, invoices and your team#
Campaigns lists every booking with impressions and clicks, updated nightly. Billing holds your Orders and Tax invoices. Under Team you can invite colleagues as Admin — can spend or Member — view only.

Can I post a job for my business?#
Yes, and it is free. Email the details to [email protected]; see the jobs guide.
Is GST added?#
Your invoice shows the GST treatment that applies to your order. Overseas advertisers are zero-rated.
Can I change a campaign after paying?#
You can pause and resume an active campaign from its page, or cancel it. Creative changes before launch: email us.
